HB 15-1077 Summary

• Reduces late vehicle registration fee from $25 per month (maximum $100) to up to $10, effective July 1, 2015

• Allows the Department of Revenue or authorized agents to waive the late fee at their discretion, replacing previous strict waiver conditions

• Late registration fees are retained by the Department of Revenue or registering agent rather than being credited to the highway users tax fund, reverting to pre-2009 law

• Establishes exemptions from late fees for acts of God, weather delays, office closures, expired temporary registration, medical hardships, and IT failures, as determined by department rules

• Removes late registration fees from the highway users tax fund credit requirements under section 43-4-804
