HB 15-1221: Parental Involvement in Preschool Through Twelfth Grade Education Act

• Employers with 50+ employees must provide up to 6 hours per month (18 hours per academic year) of paid leave for employees to attend their child's academic activities.

• Expands eligible activities to include meetings with school counselors where the child participates directly, academic achievement ceremonies, education nights, and other activities contributing to the child's academic progress.

• Extends eligibility to parents of preschool-enrolled children in addition to kindergarten through twelfth grade students.

• Requires school districts and institute charter schools to post information about this leave entitlement on their websites and include it in district-wide communications to parents and the community.

• Repeals the September 1, 2015 expiration date, allowing the act to continue indefinitely.
