PFC Christopher A. Horns was born November 10, 1990, graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson High School in 2009, and joined the U.S. Army in January 2010

PFC Horns completed Ranger Assessment Selection Program training in March 2011 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment

PFC Horns was deployed to Afghanistan on August 26, 2011, and died on October 21, 2011, at age 20 after stepping on an improvised explosive device during a night mission

Colorado Department of Transportation may accept gifts and grants for memorial signs and may explore a cooperative agreement with Custer County Commissioners for sign maintenance
