Former Colorado House Representative Frana Araujo Mace died on March 26, 2015, at age 80, leaving behind a family of six children, 16 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

Served on the Denver Board of Adjustment and Zoning Appeals from 1976 through 1986 and was appointed to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1995, representing House District 4 and winning reelection in 1996, 1998, and 2000.

Served seven years in the House on the Local Government, Transportation and Energy, and House Services committees, and served as minority whip from 1999 to 2002.

Sponsored legislation making Cesar Chavez Day a state holiday, expediting custodial and kinship adoptions, and appropriating $3 million to local area agencies on aging while expanding services for seniors in 2000 and 2001.

The Colorado House of Representatives extends sympathy to her family and honors her service as a dedicated public servant, with memorial copies to be sent to her sister and children.
