SB15-099 Summary

• Removes probation department from judicial supervision duties in family law cases, limiting supervision to county or district welfare departments only.

• Eliminates requirement for probation department reports in delinquency cases until after adjudication order is entered.

• Allows courts to designate any agency (not just probation department) to conduct social studies and reports in children's cases.

• Removes probation officers from serving as school attendance officers, allowing school districts to designate their own employees for this duty.

• Effective date is August 5, 2015, subject to voter approval through referendum petition process by November 2016.
