Expands the definition of pharmacy practice to include therapeutic interchange and therapeutically equivalent drug selections for patients in nursing care facilities and long-term acute care hospitals.

Requires that therapeutic interchange or equivalent drug selections be approved by a quality assessment and assurance committee that includes a licensed pharmacist and follows written guidelines developed by the facility in accordance with federal regulations (42 CFR 483.75(o)).

Authorizes licensed physicians, physician assistants (under physician supervision), and advanced practice nurse prescribers (with an articulated collaboration plan) to approve therapeutic drug selections for patients.

Allows nursing care facilities and long-term acute care hospitals to establish facility lists with written guidelines and procedures for making therapeutic interchange and therapeutically equivalent selections, or to form a quality assessment committee if one does not already exist.

Directs the state pharmacy board to adopt rules as necessary to implement the new provisions.
