SB15-203 Summary

• Extends the sunset date for regulation of debt-management service providers by the Attorney General from July 1, 2015 to September 1, 2024.

• Removes the prior termination date in section 24-34-104(46)(j) and adds a new termination provision in section 24-34-104(55)(j) with the extended date.

• Requires the Department of Regulatory Agencies to review the functions of the administrator and registration of debt-management service providers prior to the September 1, 2024 repeal date.

• Authorizes the administrator to establish reasonable fees paid by debt-management service providers that may vary by the type of service provided.

• Applies to conduct occurring on or after the effective date and includes a safety clause declaring the act necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety.
