SJR15-002 Summary

• Creates officer and employee positions for the First Regular Session of the Seventieth General Assembly with specified monthly compensation ranges for Senate and House positions.

• Authorizes the Secretary of the Senate and Chief Clerk of the House to hire Legislative Aides at $11.00 per hour (520 hours per Senator and 740 hours per Representative) pursuant to Joint Rule 39.

• Allows the Senate and House Services Committees to retain and hire replacement employees during the interim between the First and Second Regular Sessions, and to hire session-only employees for the next regular session as deemed necessary.

• Specifies that the Secretary of the Senate and Chief Clerk of the House remain in their positions after sine die adjournment until the convening of the Second Regular Session in January 2016.

• Authorizes salary survey adjustments and merit increases effective July 1, 2015, as approved by the Senate President and House Speaker, with all compensation paid from Seventieth General Assembly appropriations.
