Royal Gorge Bridge is America's highest suspension bridge, constructed June 5 - November 1929 with no worker deaths or serious injuries.

The bridge and park have attracted over 25 million visitors since opening and provided positive economic impact to Canon City through local employment and tourism.

A wildfire on June 11, 2013 destroyed 90 percent of the park, including 48 of 52 structures and attractions, but the bridge itself was not destroyed.

Colorado General Assembly recognizes the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park on its 86th year of existence and its Grand Reopening Celebration scheduled for May 8-10, 2015.

Copies of the resolution shall be sent to the General Manager of Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, Governor John Hickenlooper, Mayor of Canon City Tony Greer, and the Canon City Council.
