CO HB1019

Adds "broadcast burning" as an authorized method for secondary treatment of woody fuels in wildfire risk mitigation and fuel mitigation treatment projects under Colorado law.

Requires the Colorado Forest Service to facilitate and work collaboratively with the Division of Fire Prevention and Control, landowners, local governments, conservation districts, and utility companies to design prescribed fire and fuel mitigation treatment projects.

Directs the Forest Service to encourage increased responsible use of prescribed fire and fuel mitigation treatments as tools for restoring healthy forest conditions and supporting community watershed restoration, particularly for public water supply and wildlife habitat.

The Forest Service shall emphasize providing training and technical assistance to landowners, local communities, and state agencies for implementing these treatments.

Applies to conduct occurring on or after the bill's effective date.
