HB 16-1057 Summary

• Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 19-1-108 to change statutory time periods in magistrate proceedings from multiples of five or fifteen days to multiples of seven days.

• Changes the deadline for requesting a hearing before a judge from five days to seven days after receipt of notice of setting.

• Changes the deadline for filing a request for review from fifteen days to fourteen days for proceedings under articles 2, 4, and 6, and from five days to seven days for proceedings under article 3.

• Effective July 1, 2016, and applies to time intervals that commence and end on or after that date, with the first day of the period counted in calculating time intervals.

• Does not apply to modify dates or time intervals set by court orders entered before July 1, 2016.
