HB 16-1259 Summary

• Changes the term "local district junior college" to "local district college" and "junior college district" to "local college district" throughout Colorado Revised Statutes.

• Expands board size options from five or seven members to five, seven, nine, or eleven members for local district colleges, with size determined by the organization petition or through subsequent increases upon school district annexations.

• Allows Colorado Mountain College board of trustees to take actions without holding a meeting if all board members vote in writing to approve the action and the public receives notice with opportunity to request a board meeting.

• Requires meeting location for boards to be within district boundaries or within twenty miles of district boundaries, with ability to waive this provision by board resolution.

• Authorizes the Revisor of Statutes to change all references to "junior college" terminology to "local district college" terminology throughout Colorado law.
