Honors César Chávez on March 31, 2016, recognizing his birth date of March 31, 1927, and his dedication to improving working conditions and rights for farm workers through nonviolent activism.

Recognizes Dolores Huerta as UFW cofounder and acknowledges her contributions to fair representation for farm workers, particularly women.

Highlights major achievements of Chávez and the United Farm Workers (UFW), including the first collective bargaining agreement for farm workers, first union contracts requiring rest periods and safety protections, bans on pesticide spraying and dangerous pesticides, and establishment of pension plans for retired farm workers.

Notes Chávez's military service (Navy, 1944), his formation of the National Farm Workers Association in 1962, his leadership of the 1965 California grape pickers strike, and his receipt of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1994 from President Bill Clinton.

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to state officials, members of Congress, Dolores Huerta, university leaders, libraries, and city officials in recognition of their efforts to promote César Chávez Day.
