Former Representative Paul N. Brown died on March 23, 2016, at age 73, having served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1975 to 1978.

Brown was a Vietnam War veteran and University of Colorado Boulder graduate who won his first House election in 1974 against a Republican incumbent by over 14 percentage points in a traditionally Republican district.

During his legislative tenure, Brown served on the Education, Judiciary, and Transportation & Energy Committees, plus approximately half a dozen interim committees.

After leaving the legislature in 1979, Brown worked as Chief of Staff for Congressman Ray Kogovsek, held positions with the State of Colorado Division of Property Taxation, and served as Mesa County trustee from 2007 until his death.

The House of Representatives honored Brown as a devoted public servant and outstanding citizen, extending condolences to his surviving wife Sue, daughter Natalie, three grandsons, great-grandson, sister Barbara, and brothers Doug, Johnnie, and Daniel.
