Students choosing a career pathway must have their individual career and academic plan aligned with the postsecondary plan of study appropriate to their career goals.

The Department of Education commissioner must ensure that postsecondary and workforce readiness programs align with model plans of study created by the community college system.

School districts and public schools cannot release a student's individual career and academic plan or personally identifiable data without specific written parental consent, except when authorized by statute for the Department.

School districts and charter schools must provide assurances to the Department that individual career and education plans are prepared and maintained for all students in grades 9-12, without including personally identifiable data.

The Department must collaborate with the community college system to create informational materials explaining the alignment of state academic standards, graduation guidelines, and workforce initiatives with postsecondary plans of study and career pathways.
