CO SB164

Authorizes private probation supervision providers to issue summons and file complaints with the court against defendants under their supervision.

Adds new subsection (7) to Colorado Revised Statute 16-11-205 (Arrest of probationer - revocation) to clarify this authority.

Applies to persons or entities that provide supervision pursuant to Section 18-1.3-202(2), C.R.S.

Takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on the day following the expiration of the ninety-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 10, 2016, if adjournment occurred May 11, 2016).

Subject to voter approval if a referendum petition is filed within the ninety-day period; if so, requires approval at the November 2016 general election to take effect.
