Senate Bill 16-208 Summary

• Maintains the same funding calculation for charter schools that convert between institute charter schools and district charter schools, preventing automatic recalculation of per pupil revenues and at-risk supplemental aid upon conversion.

• Applies the funding formulas specified in section 22-30.5-513 to calculate converted schools' funding based on pre-conversion amounts rather than standard post-conversion calculations.

• Exempts converted schools authorized by small rural school districts from this funding maintenance requirement.

• All provisions sunset and are repealed effective July 1, 2021.

• Takes effect 12:01 a.m. on the day following the 90-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 10, 2016), subject to voter approval if a referendum petition is filed.
