Department shall issue special Pueblo chile license plates beginning September 1, 2018, or when able, for motorcycles, passenger cars, trucks, and noncommercial vehicles not exceeding 16,000 pounds empty weight.

Department may discontinue issuance if fewer than 3,000 plates are issued by July 1, 2022, but existing plate holders may continue using them indefinitely.

License plate design must be from an association of Pueblo chile growers, conform to department standards, and receive department approval.

Applicants pay standard motor vehicle license plate taxes and fees plus an additional one-time fee of $25, with the additional fee credited to the Highway Users Tax Fund.

Applicants may obtain personalized Pueblo chile plates by paying the additional personalized plate fee under section 42-3-211 and complying with related requirements.
