• District and juvenile courts gain jurisdiction to enter civil protection orders under Article 14 of Title 13 in dependency and neglect cases brought under Article 3 of Title 19, upon motion by the city or county attorney, guardian ad litem, or respondent parent counsel.

• Courts must use standardized forms developed by the Judicial Department and follow all standards and procedures for issuing civil protection orders, including personal service upon the restrained person.

• Issued civil protection orders must be entered into the computerized central registry of protection orders; if the respondent was not personally served, a peace officer responding to a call for assistance shall serve the order.

• Permanent civil protection orders remain in effect after the juvenile court action terminates, with certified copies filed in the district court or county court where the protected party resides.

• Civil protection orders issued by district or juvenile courts have the same force and effect as protection orders issued by courts with concurrent jurisdiction under Article 14 of Title 13.
