HB 17-1172 Summary

• Establishes mandatory minimum sentencing for human trafficking of a minor for sexual servitude as a Class 2 felony in Colorado Revised Statutes 18-3-504.

• Requires courts to sentence convicted offenders to the Department of Corrections for a term of at least the minimum of the presumptive range for a Class 2 felony, as specified in Section 18-1.3-401.

• Takes effect on August 9, 2017, unless a referendum petition is filed within 90 days after final adjournment, in which case voters must approve it at the November 2018 general election.

• Applies to offenses committed on or after the effective date of the act.
