HB 17-1269 Summary

• Amends Colorado Revised Statutes § 24-34-402 to prohibit employers from discharging, disciplining, discriminating against, coercing, intimidating, threatening, or interfering with employees for inquiring about, disclosing, comparing, or discussing wages.

• Prohibits employers from requiring nondisclosure of wages as a condition of employment or requiring employees to sign waivers denying the right to disclose wage information.

• Exempts employers covered by the National Labor Relations Act, 29 U.S.C. § 151 et seq., from these protections.

• Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 9, 2017) unless subject to a voter referendum petition, in which case it requires approval at the November 2018 general election.
