• Authorizes county sheriffs to provide handgun safety training courses to employees of public elementary, middle, junior high, and high school who possess valid concealed carry permits.

• Requires sheriffs to consult with local school district boards of education and state charter school institutes when developing training curricula, including consideration of school response frameworks and insurability standards.

• Permits trained, permitted school employees to carry concealed handguns on school grounds if they receive written approval from their local board of education or charter school board and notify school administration.

• Allows local school boards and charter school institutes to establish maximum caps on the number of armed employees per school and deny permission if limits would be exceeded.

• Protects the identity of armed school employees from public disclosure under the Colorado Open Records Act.
