Repeals the definition of "gravity knife" from Colorado law, making knives with blades released by gravity or centrifugal force legal to possess.

Repeals the definition of "switchblade knife" from Colorado law, legalizing knives with automatically opening blades activated by hand pressure on a button or spring.

Removes gravity knives and switchblade knives from the list of illegal weapons in Colorado Revised Statutes 18-12-102.

Effective date is August 9, 2017, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case the law requires voter approval at the November 2018 general election.

Governor John W. Hickenlooper signed the bill into law.
