Department of Education, with assistance from the Department of Public Health and Environment, shall create and maintain a resource bank of evidence-based and research-based marijuana education materials and curricula for elementary and secondary schools, with input from persons inside and outside the marijuana industry.

Resource bank may be known as the "Jack Split Memorial Marijuana Resource Bank" and shall include materials on prevention of marijuana use and education on medical and retail marijuana.

Department shall make resource bank materials available at no charge to school districts, charter schools, and boards of cooperative services beginning July 1, 2017, and provide technical assistance upon request for designing age-appropriate curricula.

School districts and other entities are encouraged to report effectiveness of materials and recommend improvements; department is encouraged to update based on recommendations.

$47,000 appropriated to Department of Education from marijuana tax cash fund for fiscal year 2017-18 to implement the resource bank and provide technical assistance.
