SB17-033 Summary

• Allows appropriately trained persons to dispense over-the-counter medications to minors in schools if the person has written instructions from the minor's parent or guardian and a physician's standing medical order.

• Does not affect the authority of professional nurses to delegate nursing tasks.

• Takes effect 12:01 a.m. on the day following the 90-day period after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 9, 2017, if adjournment occurs May 10, 2017).

• Subject to referendum petition; if challenged within the 90-day period, the act would require approval by voters at the November 2018 general election to take effect.
