SB17-082: Regulation of Methadone Treatment Facilities

• Transfers regulatory authority over methadone treatment facilities from the Department of Human Services to the Department of Public Health and Environment

• Requires applicants for initial licensure to submit fingerprints for criminal history record checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation, with applicants bearing the costs

• Requires disclosure of any substance use disorder programs licensed or regulated by other states and any regulatory actions taken against the applicant in other jurisdictions

• Mandates the Department post and annually update public website information for each licensed addiction program including location, hours of operation, and contact information

• Takes effect July 1, 2018, subject to referendum petition and voter approval if challenged within 90 days of final adjournment
