CO SB107

Creates a new performance indicator for school districts, charter schools, and public schools measuring access to arts education courses in dance, drama and theater, music, and visual arts, beginning in the 2017-18 school year.

Requires the State Board of Education to adopt rules allowing schools and districts to receive additional credit toward accreditation and performance ratings based on arts program offerings that comply with Colorado Arts Standards.

Mandates schools and districts report arts courses and programs offered at each grade level and provide assurances that programs meet or exceed applicable state standards.

Directs the State Board to consider urban, suburban, and rural school district classifications and the percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price meals when determining the amount of additional credit awarded.

Requires the Department of Education to determine statewide arts course and program offerings at each grade level across Colorado public schools.
