CO SB125

Allows exonerated persons to elect receiving remaining compensation balance as a lump-sum payment instead of annual installments after the state court administrator makes the first annual payment.

Requires exonerated persons to meet three conditions before receiving lump-sum payment: written notification to the state court administrator, governor, and general assembly; completion of a personal financial management instruction course; and acquisition and maintenance of qualified health insurance.

Directs the state court administrator to pay the remaining balance of compensation within one year of receiving written documentation that the exonerated person has satisfied all requirements.

Amends existing statute to clarify that the personal financial management instruction course requirement applies before issuing more than one annual payment or a lump-sum payment.
