SB17-295 Summary

• Consolidates Medicaid fraud reporting into a single comprehensive report submitted by the state department to the General Assembly on or before November 1 each year, replacing separate January 15 submission dates.

• Requires the state department to include information from the Attorney General regarding provider fraud, combining client fraud and provider fraud reporting in one document.

• Adds requirement for both client and provider fraud reports to include estimates of total savings, total costs, and net cost-effectiveness of fraud detection and recovery efforts.

• Changes Attorney General's provider fraud report deadline from January 15 to October 1 each year and directs submissions to the state department for inclusion in the comprehensive report rather than directly to legislative committees.

• Takes effect August 9, 2017, subject to referendum petition and potential voter approval in November 2018.
