House Bill 18-1016: Seabees License Plate

• Creates a commemorative Seabees license plate in Colorado to honor United States Naval Construction Battalion veterans and members, available beginning January 1, 2019.

• Eligibility includes honorably discharged veterans, retired members, active members, and reserve members of any U.S. Navy Construction Battalion who own qualifying vehicles (trucks under 16,000 lbs, passenger cars, motorcycles, or recreational vehicles).

• Applicants must submit a DD214 form issued by the U.S. Government or other sufficient evidence to demonstrate Seabees service or membership.

• Requires two one-time fees of $25 each in addition to standard motor vehicle fees, with one fee credited to the highway users tax fund and the other to the fund providing licensing services.

• Appropriates $1,918 from the license plate cash fund to the Department of Revenue for license plate ordering and design implementation.
