Reduces mandatory parole period from five years to three years for Class 2 felonies committed on or after July 1, 2018, except crimes of violence which retain five-year parole period.

Reduces mandatory parole period from five years to three years for Class 3 and Class 4 felonies committed on or after July 1, 2018.

Maintains existing parole periods for felonies committed before July 1, 2018, and for sex offenses and crimes of violence as defined in section 18-1.3-406(2).

Updates cross-references in related statutes (17-2-201 and 18-1.3-406) to incorporate the new parole provisions for offenses committed on or after July 1, 2018.

Establishes an effective date of July 1, 2018, for the new mandatory parole periods.
