Prohibits health insurance carriers from requiring step therapy for covered persons with stage four advanced metastatic cancer who are prescribed FDA-approved drugs on the carrier's formulary.

Allows coverage without step therapy if the prescribed drug is consistent with FDA-approved indications, National Comprehensive Cancer Network compendium indications, or peer-reviewed medical literature for treating stage four advanced metastatic cancer.

Defines stage four advanced metastatic cancer as cancer that has spread from its primary or original site to nearby tissues, lymph nodes, or other parts of the body.

Takes effect January 1, 2019, and applies to health benefit plans issued, amended, or renewed on or after that date.
