School personnel may possess and administer nonsmokeable medical marijuana to students with a valid medical marijuana recommendation on school grounds, school buses, and at school-sponsored events.

Parents or legal guardians must submit written medical marijuana recommendations from a physician (including dosage, frequency, and duration) and a liability release form to the school before administration.

A written administration plan must be agreed to and signed by the school principal (or designee) and the parent or legal guardian prior to any administration.

Medical marijuana must be delivered in a locked storage container by the parent/guardian each school day, and any unused medication must be returned at day's end; students cannot handle the medication themselves.

School personnel are not required to administer medical marijuana, and schools may opt out if they would lose federal funding; the provision does not apply during out-of-state school trips or activities.
