Clarifies that certain deputy sheriffs may serve without Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) board certification under specific circumstances.

Defines noncertified deputy sheriffs as peace officers employed by a county or city and county whose authority is limited to duties assigned by and while working under direction of the chief of police, sheriff, or chief executive of the employing law enforcement agency.

Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 16-2.5-102 to add an exception allowing some deputy sheriffs to serve without P.O.S.T. certification as described in section 16-2.5-103(2).

Amends Colorado Revised Statutes 16-2.5-103 to specify that undersheriffs and deputy sheriffs shall be certified by the P.O.S.T. board except as described in subsection (2) of that section.

Takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 8, 2018) unless subject to a referendum petition.
