HB 1080 Summary

• First responders with a permanent occupational disability may obtain a lifetime resident combination small game hunting and fishing license free of charge from the Division.

• First responders with a permanent occupational disability may obtain a Columbine annual pass free of charge from regional or central offices of the Division.

• Taxing entities that levy real property taxes may allow first responders with a permanent occupational disability to participate in property tax work-off programs, performing work in lieu of paying property taxes.

• "First responder with a permanent occupational disability" is defined as a retired member of the Fire and Police Pension Association or a current/former peace officer or firefighter who has established a permanent occupational disability resulting from an injury or occupational disease incurred while performing official duties.

• The act takes effect 90 days after final adjournment of the general assembly (August 2, 2019), unless subject to a referendum petition requiring approval by voters in November 2020.
