• Expands fingerprinting options for school employees and applicants by allowing authorized school employees to take fingerprints using FBI-approved equipment, in addition to existing third-party vendors and law enforcement.

• Applies to nonpublic schools, charter schools, school districts, and licensed educators requiring fingerprint-based criminal history background checks.

• Mandates third-party vendors retain applicant information for no more than thirty days unless the applicant requests longer retention.

• Addresses supply and accessibility issues by providing additional alternatives to the two state-approved vendors that were not meeting considerable demand across Colorado.
