Encourages Colorado cities, towns, counties, school districts, and local governments to observe appropriate ceremonies and activities commemorating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s federal and state holiday celebrated on the third Monday in January.

Recognizes Dr. King's leadership in the civil rights movement, including leading the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott, directing the 1963 March on Washington with over 200,000 participants, and his historic "I Have a Dream" speech.

Acknowledges Dr. King's instrumental role in securing landmark legislation including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965, and his receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to President Donald Trump, Governor Jared Polis, the Congressional Black Caucus, the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, and Colorado's congressional delegation.
