Former Representative Gwyn Green died on September 12, 2018, and the House of Representatives honors her memory and public service.

Representative Green was born in New Orleans on November 21, 1938, graduated from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame in 1961, earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver in 1986, and moved to Colorado in 1964 where she raised four children.

She served on Golden's City Council for Ward Four from 2001-2004 and was elected as a Democratic state representative for District 23 in 2004, earning nicknames "Landslide Green" and "Fighting Granny" for her advocacy for seniors, children, and the poor.

Representative Green was an active advocate for peace and social justice, participating in the April 1979 protest at Rocky Flats Nuclear Facility and a 2000 protest at Fort Benning, Georgia, against the Army School of America.
