SB19-038 Summary

• Exempts motor vehicles hauling trailers primarily used for transporting agricultural commodities or livestock from the requirement to clear a port of entry weigh station.

• Applies to hopper bottom, flatbed, live bottom, and livestock trailers used for agricultural transport.

• Maintains existing clearance requirements for all other heavy vehicles with empty weight of 16,000+ pounds or fully loaded weight of 26,001+ pounds.

• Takes effect August 2, 2019, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case it requires voter approval at the November 2020 general election.
