Senate Bill 19-218 Summary

• Continues Colorado's medical marijuana program by extending the sunset date from September 1, 2019 to September 1, 2028.

• Expands provider eligibility for medical marijuana recommendations to include dentists and advanced practice practitioners (with prescriptive authority) for disabling medical conditions, in addition to physicians.

• Adds autism spectrum disorder as a qualifying disabling medical condition, diagnosed by primary care physicians, physicians with autism expertise, or licensed mental health providers.

• Requires physicians recommending medical marijuana to minors to consult with and explain risks and benefits to the patient's parents before application.

• Appropriates $114,007 to the Department of Public Health and Environment and $560,143 to the Department of Regulatory Agencies for the 2019-20 fiscal year to implement program changes.
