HB20-1015: Future Educator Pathways Grant Program

• Establishes the Future Educator Pathways Grant Program in the Department of Education to provide grants to local education providers for creating programs that prepare future educators through concurrent enrollment and apprenticeships leading to college credit and teaching credentials.

• Requires applicants to apply by January 1, 2021, August 1, 2021, and August 1, 2022, with grants awarded by February 1, 2021, September 1, 2021, and September 1, 2022; local education providers must match state grants with 25% local funding.

• Creates the Future Educator Pathways Fund with $550,000 transferred from the general fund on July 1, 2020, July 1, 2021, and July 1, 2022, with the fund repealed effective July 1, 2030.

• Requires at least 20% of grants awarded to rural local education providers and at least 70% to programs that include apprenticeships; grants must serve geographically diverse providers across rural, urban, and suburban areas.

• Mandates annual reporting to the governor and legislative education committees including student participation, higher education enrollment, degree completion timelines, and employment outcomes, with a final report due by December 31, 2029.
