HB 20-1056 Summary: Nonsubstantive Reorganization of the Dental Practice Act

• Relocates existing sections without changing substantive law; for example, grounds for disciplinary action move from section 12-220-130 to 12-220-201, and licensing requirements are reorganized under new section numbers in Part 4.

• Updates cross-references throughout Colorado Revised Statutes to reflect the new section numbering in related statutes concerning appeals, volunteering, opioid prescribing, speech-language pathology, and health information confidentiality.

• Maintains all existing regulatory requirements, rights, and responsibilities for dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and unlicensed technicians without substantive policy changes.

• Takes effect August 5, 2020 (or upon voter approval if a referendum petition is filed within 90 days of final adjournment).
