Increases maximum grant share from 50% to 75% of project costs for projects in areas with fewer economic resources, while maintaining the $1 million per-project cap.

Expands eligible grant recipients to include fire protection districts and nonprofit organizations engaged in firefighting or fire management activities.

Allows funded projects to support ongoing maintenance efforts to reduce threats of large, high-intensity wildfires in addition to initial restoration work.

Permits matching funds to include volunteer hours and compensated staff time (limited to estimated planning and implementation time) as in-kind contributions toward grant match requirements.

Extends the program's repeal date from September 1, 2022 to September 1, 2029, and encourages the Forest Service to provide funding in March to enable wildfire mitigation work before peak wildfire season in June.
