HB 20-1244: Department of Education Supplemental Appropriation

• Amends Session Laws of Colorado 2019, section 2 of chapter 454 (SB 19-207) to provide supplemental appropriations to the Department of Education for fiscal year 2019-20.

• Appropriates $5,851,129,906 total, with $3,292,938,881 from General Fund, $897,710,833 from General Fund Exempt Account, $999,232,465 from cash funds, and $42,327,029 from reappropriated funds.

• Allocates funding across multiple education divisions including management and administration ($106,473,212), assistance to public schools ($5,718,138,147), library programs ($9,416,880), and School for the Deaf and Blind ($17,101,667).

• Includes funding for teacher compensation, special education programs, school transportation, capital construction assistance, English language learner services, and early literacy programs.

• Declares the appropriation necessary for immediate preservation of public peace, health, and safety under the safety clause provision.
