CO HB1270

Authorizes physicians and mental health professionals to evaluate or treat minors under 15 years of age for behavioral health disorders with consent from only one parent or legal guardian when both parents have legal decision-making authority.

Requires physicians and mental health professionals to act in the best interest of the minor and provide services only in accordance with their own professional advice or recommendation.

Does not apply when parental consent is not required by law to treat a minor for behavioral health disorders or when a court order establishes joint decision-making authority for parents or legal guardians.

Defines "minor" as a person under fifteen years of age.

Applies to mental health professionals licensed under Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, or 8 of Article 245 of the Colorado Revised Statutes, as well as physicians.
