Professional teacher licensees must complete a minimum of 10 clock hours of behavioral health training that is culturally responsive and trauma- and evidence-informed for license renewal.

At least one clock hour must be in behavioral health training and one clock hour must cover laws and practices relating to educating students with disabilities in the classroom for teacher license renewal.

Special services, principal, and administrator licensees must complete 10 clock hours in professional development related to child sexual abuse and assault awareness, behavioral health training, and disability education laws.

Teacher candidates in initial licensure programs must complete at least one semester or quarter-length course in behavioral health training using culturally responsive and trauma- and evidence-informed practices.

Acceptable behavioral health training programs include mental health first aid for youth, teen suicide prevention training, positive behavioral interventions and supports frameworks, and training on child traumatic stress.
