HB 20-1318 Summary

• County clerks and recorders may now receive original plats for recording in electronic format, in addition to traditional paper or polyester sheet formats.

• Plats submitted in electronic format must have a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch and must be digitized or scanned by the county clerk and recorder if the original is preserved in electronic format.

• All plats submitted for recording must include original signatures, original seals, at least ten-point type, and no illegible images, regardless of submission format.

• Plats submitted in original format must be printed on white paper or dimensionally stable polyester sheets (such as Cronar or Mylar) without water marks, staples, binding, or impression seals.

• County clerks and recorders designated as the appropriate local government official may record plats instead of depositing them, when storing original Mylar, paper, or polyester sheets of subdivision and land survey plats.
