SB20-027: School District School Safety Plans

• Each school district board must issue a request for proposal and contract with a safety specialist to evaluate all public schools in the district by January 2, 2021

• The safety specialist shall present evaluation and recommendations to the board by June 30, 2021, and the board must vote on recommendations individually and submit approved recommendations to the state board of education by September 1, 2021

• The state board of education shall review and approve or reject district recommendations individually by December 31, 2021, and provide funding to cover costs of approved recommendations

• Districts must use state funding only to implement approved recommendations and return any unexpended funds to the state board of education

• The state board of education shall report to the legislature's education committees by March 1, 2022, regarding all recommendations received, approved, and funded

• This section automatically repeals on July 1, 2022
