• Schools offering comprehensive human sexuality education must provide written and electronic notification to parents 90 days before instruction begins, including the date the curriculum will be taught.

• Electronic notification must be sent separately from other school notifications and must inform parents of their right to excuse their child from human sexuality instruction without penalty or additional assignment.

• Schools must make all materials used during the planned curriculum available for online viewing 90 days prior to instruction, including audio/visual resources, written handouts, teacher and consultant scripts, lesson plans, and student questionnaires.

• Schools must provide a detailed, substantive outline of topics and materials to be presented in the human sexuality education portion of the curriculum.

• Effective date is August 5, 2020, unless a referendum petition is filed, in which case approval by voters at the November 2020 general election is required for the act to take effect.
