SB20-177: Hard Cider Definition

• Increases the maximum alcohol by volume limit for hard cider from 7% to 8.5% in Colorado Revised Statutes 44-3-103(20).

• Raises the maximum carbon dioxide content in hard cider from 0.392 grams to 0.64 grams per hundred milliliters.

• Clarifies that the definition of "hard cider" includes flavored hard cider and hard cider with specified carbonation levels.

• Maintains that hard cider shall be treated as a vinous liquor for administration purposes under Colorado law.

• Takes effect August 5, 2020, subject to referendum petition procedures, or upon voter approval at the November 2020 general election if petitioned.
